702 deserved more.
1) Gotta Leave
The production from Missy. Meelah's vocals. It's just *chef's kiss*. Along with that, the song still sounds FRESH! And we love a breakup/fuck that nigga anthem (especially when it's relatable atm). But back to the vocals, the runs in this song are unfathomable.
2) No Doubt
This song makes me feel so many things. It's such a feel good song, and something that should be added to every party playlist and dj set.
3) All I Want
Good Burger soundtrack anyone? This song may have been for a children's film, but the vocals? the production? very much grown. This song is one of my favs by 702, and got me interested in their discography again after so many years.
And these are just the lesser known records. Where My Girls At, Get It Together, Steelo? All bops! Please get into the girls if you have not. Their records still sound fresh, and give you the same feeling you felt when you first heard them.
*Honorable mentions: Round & Round, Word Iz Bond, Don't Go Breaking My Heart
It's frustrating that just because an artist doesn't win a Grammy (some bs anyway) or get a Billboard #1 that their work is left out of history. 702 paved the way for other girl groups, and having a dark skinned black girl sing lead over her lighter counterparts? You didn't see that often, if at all. I want 702 to get all their flowers, and then some.
S/O Irish, Misha, & Meelah for killing it and for making up one of the best girl groups!
